With regret, I formally resigned from Brier City Council in June 2025 in advance of my family’s move to Montana. It has been such an honor to work alongside the smart, dedicated staff and elected officials in the City of Brier. I’ve learned a ton and met so many wonderful people in this role.
Cities in Washington State have challenging times ahead – like Brier, many are struggling with increasing costs and are using reserve funds to make ends meet. I’m confident that Brier’s leadership has taken important first steps and will find a path forward. Please stay engaged during these conversations.
In my work with the League of Women Voters this past year, I’ve been privileged to present Speak Up Schools – civic education workshops with a focus on giving public testimony. The message is simple: Your experience is unique and valuable to elected leaders. No one else lives on your street, has your commute, takes kids to that playground, and plays clarinet in the local symphony, for example.
So: Help your elected officials by sharing a snapshot from your life – tell them what is working well and what changes you hope to see. When they know what matters to you, they are better prepared to represent you. Attend a meeting of the City Council, School Board, Water Commission, a hearing at the State Legislature - or send an email. Share your thoughts and listen to the conversation. Our community will be the better for it.
Thank you all for being such great neighbors. Brier has been fantastic for our family.
